If you yelled at someone to stop eating delicious candy or ice cream because it was gluttony do you think they would stop just because of that? No, they would ignore you. Your intentions might be well but your plan and execution of that plan was not that good. We need to speak kindly not the shouting "you'll go to hell you evil person" in the street way.
Do you ever have the feeling that there is an archetypal scene that projects fear and anxiety? I have one such. It seems to stem from those early years as a toddler, when nightmares seemed more threatening. You're looking down a deep gorge with vertical sides, the floor is covered by grass or moss, the sky that you can see is dark and cloudy. The gorge fades off into darkness in the distance. You stand there staring into the dark end of the gorge. You're trying to discern what it is, that is giving off the intense feeling of malevolence. You sense a presence within that darkness beyond, and you have the distinct feeling that it is aware of you.
Awesome painting, Dan!! It's such a unique subject and I love how well you handle the various textures- the rats really seem cottony and (this is strange for me to say) warm! The eclipse is a nice touch.
